Oracle Database 11gR2 Installation

Oracle Database 11gR2 Installation on Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.7:

Requirements:

–>50GB of Hard disk
–>2GB of RAM
–>2 cpu’s

Assumptions:

–>Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.7 64bit Installed Machine.

Create Group and User:

[root@apps oracle]# groupadd -g 1000 oinstall
[root@apps oracle]# useradd -u 1100 -g oinstall oracle
[root@apps oracle]# passwd oracle
Changing password for user oracle.
New UNIX password: BAD PASSWORD: it is based on a dictionary word Retype new UNIX password:
passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully.

Create the directories in which the Oracle software will be installed:

[root@fmw ~]# mkdir -p /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1
[root@fmw ~]# chown -R oracle:oinstall /u01
[root@fmw ~]# chmod -R 775 /u01

copy and unzip the 11.2.0.3 database software to /u01 location :

[root@fmw FMW]# cd /u01/
[root@fmw u01]# ls app database
[root@fmw u01]# chown -R oracle:oinstall /u01
[root@fmw u01]# chown -R 775 /u01
[root@fmw u01]# su – oracle
[oracle@fmw ~]$ cd /u01/database/
[oracle@fmw database]$ ls
doc install readme.html response rpm runInstaller sshsetup stage welcome.html [oracle@fmw database]$ pwd /u01/database

Before running ./runInstaller open a new terminal and run xhost + as a root user:

[root@fmw u01]# xhost +
access control disabled, clients can connect from any host

Start Installation with runInstaller:

[oracle@fmw database]$ ./runInstaller

Uncheck the Updates box and Click Next

click Yes11g_3

Select Skip Updates and click Next11g_4

Select “Create and configure a database” and click Next11g_5

Select “Server Class” and click Next

Fill the details

Oracle Base: /u01/apps/oracle
Software location: /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1
Database File Location: /u01/app/oracle/oradata
Database Edition: Enterprise Edition (4.5GB)
Character Set: Unicode (AL32UTF8)
OSDBA Group: oinstall
Global Database name: PROD
passwords as you like here I have used “oracle” as password

and Click Next

Click Yes11g_8

Click Next11g_9

If you satisfied with the summary click Install

wait until Database Installation Completes11g_11

Click Ok11g_12

Run the Scripts as a root user by opening new terminal11g_13

Run the scripts as shown below

Click Close after successfully completion of Database Installation11g_15
