Caused by: javax.naming.AuthenticationException: [LDAP: error code 49 – Password Policy Error :9000: GSL_PWDEXPIRED_EXCP :Your Password has expired. Please contact the Administrator to change your password.

While Starting Fusion Applications 11.1.8 Domains, I did come across below error:

Error:

Caused by: javax.naming.AuthenticationException: [LDAP: error code 49 – Password Policy Error :9000: GSL_PWDEXPIRED_EXCP :Your Password has expired. Please contact the Administrator to change your password.

Cause:

It is because your PolicyRWUser was expired after 120 days or locked.

FAStartStop uses <domainDir>/config/fmwconfig/jps-config-jse.xml file to connect to LDAP like many other tools and this jps-config xml file uses <domainDir>/config/fmwconfig/bootstrap/cwallet.sso where the PolicyRWUser or orcladmin user credentials are stored. If the password is changed it will mismatch the credentials stored in the config files, as a result failing to start the servers

Solution:

Go to ODSM and search for PolicyRWUser, if it is locked, unlock it.   If it is not locked, password might be expired, to know whether the password is expired or not:

[oracle@fa Oracle_IDM1]$ pwd
/u01/fmw/Oracle_IDM1
[oracle@fa Oracle_IDM1]$ export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/fmw/Oracle_IDM1
[oracle@fa Oracle_IDM1]$ $ORACLE_HOME/bin/ldapbind -p 3060 -D “cn=PolicyRWUser,cn=Users,dc=appsdbatraining,dc=com” -w Oracle123
ldap_bind: Invalid credentials
ldap_bind: additional info: Password Policy Error :9000: GSL_PWDEXPIRED_EXCP :Your Password has expired. Please contact the Administrator to change your password.

Above error shows that the password has expired, so change the password in ODSM and try it again.

ODSM

[oracle@fa Oracle_IDM1]$ $ORACLE_HOME/bin/ldapbind -p 3060 -D “cn=PolicyRWUser,cn=Users,dc=sttechinc,dc=com” -w Oracle123
bind successful
[oracle@fa Oracle_IDM1]$

After changing the password, your query will be successful!!!!!!!!!! now you can start Fusion Applications again using fastartstop.sh
