Install Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.2 64- bit on Virtualbox

Install Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.2 64- bit on Oracle Virtualbox

Step 1:  Login to E-Delivery and select Product as “Oracle Linux” and Platform as “x86 64 bit”

Step 2:  Click “Continue” and then chose Oracle Linux 7.2 by clicking on “Select alternate Release”

Step 3:  Accept Oracle Agreement and then click on “Download All” by only choosing V100082-01.iso file.

Step 4:  Create Virtual Machine

Click “Next”

Step 5: Change “Clipboard and Drag’n’Drop” Settings of VM

Step 6:  I did select 5 “Processors” as I have allocated 20 GB of memory

Step 7:  Select Network Adapter as shown below

Step 8:  Mount the Windows folder where you downloaded 12.2.6 Software from e-delivery

Step 9:  Start the VM and chose OEL 5.7 64 bit ISO file, which downloaded from e-delivery

Step 10:  Press “I” to start the installation

Step 11:  Select Language as “English”

Step 12:  Chose “Date & Time”

Step 13:  Click “Done”

Step 14:  Chose “Software Selection” as shown from Step 12 and then select components as below

Step 15:  Chose “KDUMP” as shown from Step 12 and disable it

Step 16:  Chose “Installation Destination” as shown from Step 12 and then select the disk

Step 17:  Finally the screen should show as below and then click on “Begin Installation”

Step 18:  Chose “Root Password” while installation is going on

Step 19:  Click “Reboot” once installation is done.

Step 20:  Accept “Licence Information” and then click “Finish Configuration”

Step 21:  Chose “English”

Step 22:  Chose Keyboard as “English”

Step 23:  Type in City

Step 24:  Create a user and then click “Next”

Step 25:  Set Password for the user

Step 26:  Enjoy the Linux

Step 27:  Logoff and Login as “root” user by choosing “Not listed?” option to install Virtualbox Guest Additions

Enter Username as “root”

Enter password of “root” user

Step 28:  Click on “Install Guest Additions” from “Devices” menu

Step 29:  Press “Enter” once Guest Additions have been installed.

Step 30:  Click on Drop down Arrow on the right upper corner of the screen to setup Network and make sure its connected as shown below

Step 31:  Click on “Wired Settings” to see what IP it has taken by default

Step 32:  Open Terminal as root user and “vi /etc/hosts” file to make a host entry as shown below

Step 33:  Click on “Identity” tab and set Name and select “Connect Automatically”

Click Apply and restart VM to take changes effect !!!!

Step 34:  Make sure you have enough SWAP Space (16 GB is recommended).  Check swap space and add if required by following this LINK
